Pippin' J and his little orange sister were brought in under the shelter's care for their spay & neuter. Dr. Brooke Knowlton noticed that Pippin's breathing was abnormal but due to funds, the shelter declined x-rays until about two weeks later when he was breathing even harder and not gaining weight. Dr. Knowlton diagnosed him with a diaphragmatic hernia. Dr. Knowlton had only learned about this type of hernia closure in school where the muscle between his chest and belly was open so his intestines are taking up lung space so it is a risky procedure of breathing for the patient. But she was his only hope so she recruited Dr. Cochran's help and together they formed a team with Ashley to perform surgery and make sure he had a warm bed to recover in. Ashley fell in love of course!

We are unsure of what caused the hernia as it can be a birth defect or due to trauma and with his parkour skills, we are giving him the title of Master of Mischief & suspect it is due to trauma!
